Taking Inspiration from a childhood spent poring over picture books, violent cartoons and Grimm fairy tales and a love for all things living, Bridge Stehli's work explores the importance of animal personification within classical and contemporary culture, and how these figures relate to and impact on the physical world.
Using a combination of popular iconography, anthropomorphism, childish humor and traditional painting techniques, Stehli creates visually absurd paintings which consider the social hierarchies of humans and animals and the many similarities between the two which are commonly disregarded.
Bridge Stehli's work has been shown in an array of shows across Australia, Europe and the USA. She has produced many murals and has been featured in numerous publications. She was co-curator and organizer alongside friend Ben Frost on the celebrated 'Paste-modernism' paste-up exhibitions in Sydney and runs a side project titled 'Graffiti on Graffers' - a playful dig at Graffiti's popular body painting culture.
Originally from Sydney, Australia, Bridge Stehli now lives and works in London, England.
