Ella Barclay (B.1981 Bendigo) creates messy multimedia video installations that engage with the transfixing, impulsive and intuitive behaviours brought about by new technologies.
In 2006 she obtained an MSc. in Digital Media with Distinction from the University of Edinburgh, courtesy of the British Council Scotland Scholarship and was subsequently awarded the John Lansdowne Media Art Award. In 2007 she was an active member of the international collective of artists and programmers FutureAcademy StudioLab, with whom she conducted exhibitions and symposia in Edinburgh, Tokyo, Akiyoshidai and for the Documenta 12 Magazines project in Kassel. She is a board member at runway magazine and has recently exhibited in the City of Sydney's Live Laneways, FirstDraft Gallery, MOP projects, Bathurst Regional Gallery, Tin Sheds Gallery, Mosman Art Gallery, Gaffa, Fraser Studios, SCA Gallery, the GrantPirrie Window and db Project.
