Hernan Diaz Alonso

Hernan Diaz Alonso is the principal and founder of Xefirotarch, based in Los Angeles, and is considered one of the most influential voices of his generation. He is the Graduate Thesis coordinator at SCI-Arc, Los Angeles, Design Studio Professor at the GSAPP - Columbia University, New York, and Studio Professor at Universitat fur Angewandte Kurst Wien.
He received his architecture degrees from the National University of Rosario, Argentina, and from Columbia University's AAD Program, from which he graduated with honors and has worked in the office of Enric Miralles in Barcelona and Eisenman Architects in New York.
His designs have been exhibited at the London Biennale, Beijing Biennale, Archilab France, Venice Biennale; solo shows include, the San Francisco MoMa, the Art Institute in Chicago, MAK centre in Vienna, and the Pompidou Center in 2010.
In 2005 he was the winner of the PS1 MoMa, New York, Young architect Program Pavilion, and his work is part of the permanent collections of the FRAC, the San Francisco MoMa, Art Institute of Chicago, MAK Centre in Vienna, Thiessen Bornavisa at Vienna and the New York MoMa.

Introduction

Tom Wiscombe and Hernan Diaz Alonso are Los Angeles based architects regarded amongst the most important thinkers considering the future of architecture and building. Tom is the founder and principal of Emergent, and Hernan, Xefirotarch. The good friends photographed each other, each others studio, and the inspiring and interesting objects found on display.
