Jenny E. Sabin's research, teaching and design practice focus on the contextual, material and formal intersections between architecture, computation, textiles and science. Through the visualization and materialization of dynamic and complex datasets, Sabin's trans-disciplinary approach to design has generated a body of speculative and applied work that aligns crafts-based techniques with digital fabrication alongside questions related to the body and information mediation. She is Principal of Jenny Sabin Studio, an experimental research and architectural design studio based in Philadelphia USA. Sabin is the first non-scientist member of the Institute for Medicine and Engineering (IME), University of Pennsylvania, where she is collaborating with the Jones Lab and co-directs a research LabStudio together with Peter Lloyd Jones. She is also a founding member of the Nonlinear Systems Organization (NSO), a research group at PennDesign started by Cecil Balmond, where she is currently Director of Research. Sabin recently accepted a position in the area of Design and Emerging Technologies at the level of Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture at Cornell University.

Sabin is the co-recipient, along with a team of 6 scientists and designers, of a $2 Million National Science Foundation EFRI SEED grant. Sabin & Jones were also awarded the prestigious Upjohn research grant administered by the American Institute of Architects. She was awarded the AIA Henry Adams first prize medal and the Arthur Spayd Brooke gold medal for distinguished work in architectural design, 2005. Sabin was recently awarded the highly respected Pew Fellowship in the Arts 2010 and has exhibited nationally and internationally most recently at the Siggraph 09' Design and Computation Galleries and Ars Electronic, Linz, Austria. Sabin is a member of the international Smart Geometry Group and was a senior tutor and lecturer at the 2007 - 2011 Smart Geometry workshops and conferences. Her work has been published in A+U, Mark Magazine, 306090, 10+1, ACM, American Journal of Pathology, Science, the New York Times, Wired Magazine and various exhibition catalogues and reviews. She has co-authored Meander, Variegating Architecture with Ferda Kolatan. Sabin and Jones were awarded a 2010 Graham Foundation publication grant for the production of LabBook, a monograph highlighting intersections between architecture and science and the work of the Sabin+Jones LabStudio.
