Born in Australia in 1972, lives and works in Melbourne.
Greville examines interstices between artifice and nature through painting and illustration. With architecture and landscapes as a stage, Greville’s images draw on existing graphic vernaculars and modes of graphic production as points of reference.
Up until 2005 Greville’s focus was mainly on video, sculpture and curatorial action, and exhibitions in Sydney artist-run spaces such as Rubyare and Imperial Slacks. From 2005-2009 Greville founded and ran Studio Zeds, a cross-disciplinary art studio with Técha Noble (The Kingpins) with an emphasis on producing work for the public sphere. Here he developed an approach to painting which he continues, living in Berlin. Recently he has collaborated on sculpture and performance works in Berlin, Munich and Melbourne. Greville occasionally produces illustrations under the Moniker: ‘Snip Green’, such as screenprints for the forthcoming Druck Berlin in August 2011
Painting continues as Piers Greville’s main focus, with an Australian exhibition planned in October 2011, at Blindside Gallery in Melbourne.
