Rene Vaile

Rene Vaile

Starting his photography career in skateboarding, Vaile made the smooth transition into the world of fashion photography, taking with him the ability to capture moments as if they were carefully orchestrated - but without ever creating a feeling that is contrived. His fashion work has a natural at-ease feeling that as a viewer makes you wish you were hanging out too.

With a portfolio that includes tears from cult publications such as Tokion, Dazed & Confused, i-D and Doing-Bird, his new work as Senior Photographer for Sydney based publication Mountain Fold Music Journal is definitely worth the hunt for an online purchase. His sometimes raw but always genuine shots of the musicians give the journal a quality which makes it a keeper.

To quote the man himself... "Maybe I'm just really nosy, maybe I just really like looking at people and their stuff. I always feel like I'm a good judge of character and it's exciting meeting someone and, you know, actually meeting them and having a chat and getting them to sit for you and, I guess, joining on some sort of level."
