I was inspired for my portrait of Sir Peter Cook by Polish film posters of the 1960s and the bold blocks of colours and halftone shapes that made them so recognisable. The graphic stripes of his scarf and the shape of his glasses were my starting point. I wanted to keep the image simple and graphic. The technique of screen printing lends itself well to this.
