Late in the afternoon, after the doors of the Berlinische Galerie - Berlin's Museum of Modern Art, Photography and Architecture have closed to the general public, architect Juergen Mayer H. and artist Christian Jankowski discover and discuss each others work concurrently showing at the esteemed museum.
We work with a lot of coloured thread that like to entangle and knot and drive us crazy. The tackle box is our version of an artist's palette, it helps us stay organised and as a plus also lets us take our work with us on the days we feel like embroidering in the sun.
I am a female illustrator from Japan.
I was based in the UK for 7 years from September 2004. I completed a BA in Illustration at the University of Brighton in 2009, and have been freelancing as an illustrator ever since. I recently moved to Melbourne, Australia from Brighton, UK; town of my love. Everything British from double decker buses to Gill Sans still bring tears of yearning for the country in my eyes, but at the same time I'm unstoppably falling for the charms of Melbourne, city of gardens.
I work almost exclusively with pencils and my work is greatly influenced by images and objects I find aesthetically pleasing. That includes botanical & biological illustration from the Victorian time, typography from the mid-century and taxidermy animals.
I love everything beautiful and I'd like to think my illustration can be part of it.
